Smart B-Complex Patches – With Methylated B12, Folate & P5P

All eight essential B vitamins in the activated forms your body uses directly — no conversion step, no pills, no gut irritation.

Patched Up Smart B-Complex Patches deliver all eight essential B vitamins in their activated, methylated forms — including methylcobalamin (B12), methylfolate (B9), and P5P (B6) — through the skin rather than the digestive system. Most oral B supplements use cheaper synthetic forms that your body has to convert before it can use them. These patches skip that step entirely and deliver the forms your cells work with directly.

Why Activated B Vitamins?

Most oral B-vitamin supplements use synthetic forms — cyanocobalamin instead of methylcobalamin, pyridoxine instead of P5P. They're cheaper to manufacture and more shelf-stable, but your body has to convert them before your cells can use them.

The activated forms are what your cells use at the end of that process anyway. Delivering them directly matters most for people whose conversion is slow, whose gut absorption is poor, or who simply aren't getting enough to begin with.

Activated B vitamins may support:

  • Energy metabolism
  • Nervous system and brain function
  • Stress resilience
  • DNA and neurotransmitter production
  • Red blood cell health
  • Mood and mental clarity

Our vitamin B6 is the active form (P5P), delivered at a low dose over 24 hours — quite different from the high-dose synthetic B6 discussed in recent news. More on that here.

Why B12 and Folate Belong Together

There is exactly one reaction in the body where vitamin B12 and folate are both essential in a single step: converting homocysteine into methionine. If B12 is low, that reaction slows — and folate gets stuck in its methylfolate form with nowhere to go. You end up functionally short of usable folate even with plenty of folate on board.

This is why a B-complex makes more sense than folate alone, and why both B12 and folate appear here in their activated forms. They work as a pair or not at all.

Who might benefit?

  • Anyone with ongoing fatigue, low mood, or difficulty concentrating
  • Those with gut absorption issues (IBS, Crohn's, coeliac disease)
  • Anyone taking medications that deplete B vitamins — metformin, reflux medication, and weight-loss medications such as Ozempic
  • Vegetarians and vegans, who are more likely to run low on B12
  • Anyone whose B-vitamin processing has slowed with age
  • People who prefer activated forms over synthetic ones, whatever their reason

Transdermal patches bypass digestion and deliver nutrients directly into the bloodstream.

🧒 Safe for Kids?

Yes — Smart B-Complex Patches are suitable for children with appropriate guidance.

Age Group RDI (Approx.) Considerations
4–8 yrs Varies Use half a patch or shorter wear time
9–13 yrs Varies One patch = more than the full RDI for B12 & folate
Teens May benefit fully Especially if fatigued or run down

Always consult a healthcare provider before using this product for children. You can cut patches if you prefer lower doses.

How to use:

  • Apply 1 patch to clean, dry, hair-free skin
  • Wear for up to 24 hours
  • Use as needed, up to several times a week

A note on skin: some customers find this patch causes redness or irritation on sensitive areas such as the inner arm or chest, but have no reaction at all on thicker skin — the hips, thighs, or upper back. If you have sensitive skin, start on one of those areas. If you do get a reaction, moving the patch is usually all it takes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between regular B vitamins and activated (methylated) B vitamins?

Most oral B vitamin supplements use synthetic forms — cyanocobalamin for B12, folic acid for B9, pyridoxine for B6 — that your body converts into the active forms before it can use them. Activated B vitamins, such as methylcobalamin, methylfolate, and P5P, are already in the form your cells use, and they raise blood levels at least as well as synthetic forms.

Can I use these patches if I have MTHFR?

Yes. It's worth knowing, though, that the MTHFR story is more oversold than most people realise. About half of all people carry at least one MTHFR variant, and health authorities, including the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, state that people with MTHFR variants can process all forms of folate. The case for activated B vitamins doesn't rest on your genotype — it rests on the fact that these are the forms your cells use anyway.

How often should I use Smart B-Complex Patches?

Apply one patch to clean, dry, hair-free skin and wear for up to 24 hours. Most people use them as needed — anywhere from once or twice a week to several times a week, depending on energy levels, stress, and how their body responds. There's no fixed schedule; start lower and adjust.

Will this patch irritate my skin?

Some customers do get redness or irritation from this patch, and it's almost always about where it's applied rather than the patch itself. Sensitive areas — the inner arm and the chest — are common culprits. The same people usually have no reaction at all on thicker skin: hips, thighs, upper back. If you have sensitive skin, start there.

Is the B6 in these patches safe given recent news about B6 toxicity?

The Patched Up B-Complex uses the active form of B6 (P5P, or pyridoxal-5-phosphate) at a low dose, released gradually over 24 hours. The B6 toxicity reports in the news are related to high doses of synthetic B6 (pyridoxine) taken orally, which can cause nerve problems. P5P delivered through the skin at a low, steady rate avoids that pattern.

Can I use Smart B-Complex Patches alongside other supplements or medications?

B vitamins generally have a wide safety margin and few interactions, but if you take medications — especially methotrexate, anti-seizure medications, or proton-pump inhibitors — check with your healthcare provider. The patches are not intended to replace medical treatment.

How is transdermal delivery different from taking a pill?

Transdermal patches deliver nutrients through the skin directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. This avoids stomach acid, gut absorption problems, and the breakdown that removes much of an oral supplement before it ever reaches the cells that need it. It also means a steady, gradual release over hours rather than a single spike that clears quickly.
